Medipak Systems – a holistic approach to pharma production 15.06.2018 Pharmaceutical and biotech organizations seeking a holistic approach, which integrates out-of-the box and complex line concepts need to look no further than Medipak Systems – an integrated group of companies each of which offers unparalleled expertise within its field. Their holistic approach was fully reflected at this year’s ACHEMA booth! On the ground floor of the booth visitors experienced the integration on the shop floor: from inspection, via packaging machines all the way to Track & Trace solutions. And it proceeded with the vertical integration on the first floor: with the networking of machines and information up to Werum’s MES PAS-X. Shop floor of the Medipak Systems Booth False rejection and faulty detection rates can be costly – this is where inspection expert Seidenader can help. Its latest BUBL-X inspection tool reliably differentiate air bubbles from any kind of foreign matter, thus minimizing the false reject rate and increasing detection rates for particle inspections. Customer requirements vary, which is why Seidenader has launched a linescan camera, which is now complementing its existing area scan camera system. Fargo is the expert in transport systems such as the syringe accumulator featuring contactless transport of the syringes and which is integrated in the new machine from packaging expert Dividella. Dividella’s new high-speed, flexible, efficient, fully automatic packaging line, makes every second count in the packaging of syringes, vials, ampules and other parenterals. The futuristically designed machine was a magnet for many visitors! Four decades of Dividella experience has been applied to the development of the NeoTRAY, which combines the advantages of gentle top-loading and fast side-loading while using 100 per cent monomaterial for efficient and cost-saving packaging of the highest quality. In primary and secondary packaging the current demand for decreased production time yet greater quality and format variability necessitates flexible solutions – this is what Mediseal’s Blister Expert BE3 offers in perfect combination with the brandnew P3 cartoner. Blister Expert is a modular system, which enables fast format changes and short line clearance times. Eighty years of Mediseal experience is incorporated in this blister and packaging technology. Because it was developed to be completely modular, the system can be adapted to meet individual customer needs and get new products to market very quickly. All Dividella, Mediseal and Seidenader machines now have the same HMI interface, for a faster workflow and less training. Secondary packaging specialist Rondo excels at providing small lot, on-demand customized solutions. It also offers pre-serialized folding cartons to customers still deciding on which track and trace system to use. The new Track & Trace specialist Traxeed (which comprises the former Seidenader and Systec & Services Track & Trace teams) is unparalleled at finding ways to conform to international regulations on serialization and aggregation. They were exhibiting their integrated portfolio from Level 1 to Level 5: For serialization and aggregation the ItemUnit, CaseUnit and PalletUnit, on Level 3-5 the Multi Line Manager and the integration to the Arvato CSDB solution. Upper Floor of the Medipak Systems Booth Systec & Services Manufacturing Consulting helps to empower digitized Pharma Business by providing independent process consulting, project and program management, validation services, and of course executing customer projects on site. At Achema, Werum presented the latest innovations around their PAS-X MES software – the market-leading MES for pharma and biotech. A world first is PAS-X as a service: Werum’s PAS-X MES as a cloud-based solution. It allows manufacturers to save the resources for their own IT data center and concentrate on their core business. Together with their partners, Werum showed innovative operating concepts to improve the production and increase efficiency. The visitors learned more about the use of augmented reality and wearables in the pharmaceutical production. With their solution for Enterprise Manufacturing Intelligence (EMI), Werum showed how pharma manufacturers can generate knowledge from their production data. This will enable supervisors and factory managers to obtain a deeper insight in the production in real-time, as a basis for well-informed decisions and the optimization of processes. Pharma 4.0 plug & produce solutions improve line management efficiency by enabling machines from different manufacturers to interact in production lines to perform data analyses using standard interfaces. This system works independently – no matter which provider you work with! By using Werum’s PAS-X MSI solution for example, the machines on the shopfloor and Werum’s PAS-X software can communicate directly with each other via a standardized, message-based interface. This allows to reduce the integration effort by up to 75 %. For this solution, Werum was awarded as Best of at the Industriepreis 2018!
