The Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre (MMIC) is a collaboration between CPI, the University of Strathclyde, founding industry partners GSK and AstraZeneca and Government funding partners Scottish Enterprise and UK Research and Innovation. This collaborative partnership business model will help the MMIC achieve its aim to benefit patients, the environment and the UK economy through accelerating the introduction of new technology into medicines manufacturing, via flagship Grand Challenge projects. By bringing together a digital twin and continuous manufacturing technologies into a digital test-bed, Grand Challenge 1 will fulfil its aim to produce oral solid dose medicines more robustly and efficiently. The contribution by Siemens will also support Grand Challenge 2’s focus on faster more flexible delivery of medicines to patients via just-in-time packing and Qualified Person release and enabling adaptive clinical trial supply.
